The Avon River still has fish, bird and plant life in spite of winding through a city of 400,000 people.
These pencil and watercolour drawings of our fish species were part of a poster commissioned by the Canterbury Earthquake Repair Authority.
Fish aren’t always what I’d call “cute” so I endeavoured to give some of them expressions that hinted at some kind of personality.
